There has been an increase in theft of small electronics. Employees are advised to secure items in locked drawers or cabinets. Any easily transportable device should be physically secured while not in use even when you are in the office. A locked cabinet or desk drawer is the best way to store portable equipment or devices. Just as you would not leave your wallet or purse unattended, do not leave portable devices unattended or in a place where it is likely to be stolen. University Policies 1404 and 2104 provides information on departmental responsibility in regards to Commonwealth property. For information on reporting stolen, damaged or lost Commonwealth property visit: http://risk.gmu.edu/property/university_owned_property.html. |

The Environmental Health and Safety Office (EHS) will conduct annual fire pump inspections at the Fairfax campus between May 17 and May 24. Inspections will occur between 6:00 am - 2:00 pm. Inspections should not interfere with daily buildings operations or work schedules and will not require an evacuation of the building. Every effort will be made to follow the attached schedule; however, issues may necessitate a modified schedule. You will only be required to evacuate the building if the general building fire alarm is activated or you are advised to do so by a representative from EHS. This inspection is mandated by the Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code, and we appreciate your cooperation in this process. If you have any questions contact EHS at 993-8448. http://ehs.gmu.edu/docs/efiles/Annual_Fire_Pump_Testing_Spring_2012.pdf |

Forum on Global Imbalances, Finance and Economic Stability The past few years have been remarkable for their degree of economic uncertainty. Not only has there been a recession on a scale not seen for nearly a century, but very large trade imbalances and asset imbalances have built up - followed by a sovereign debt crisis in Europe and potentially in the other OECD economies. Despite a great deal of recent work on these topics, it is clear that we are far from understanding the causes and potential resolution of these difficulties. The aim of this meeting is to take a deeper look at some of the mechanisms that lie behind these extreme imbalances and the policies that might be used to make the financing of our economies more robust and sustainable. Join us for the discussion at Arlington Campus, Founders Hall, Room 126 on May 25 from 8:45 am – 6:00 pm. For more details, visit http://cemp.gmu.edu/annual-research-forum/. The event is free and open to all. RSVP to cemp@gmu.edu immediately. |
