Krug Hall Renovations

Facilities Management is in the final stages of completing heating/air conditioning renovations in Krug Hall. From March 9 through March 28, a portion of the building ventilation system will be out of service while equipment in the attic is replaced. The building will be cooler than usual in the corridors and restrooms. Offices and classrooms should remain comfortable, but it is advisable to bring along a light jacket or sweater.

During this time, respect posted construction signs and barriers. If you have any questions or concerns, contact the project manager, Richard Goolsby at 993-8498.

Dining Services Spring Break Hours

Changes in operating hours for Spring break began on Friday, March 9. Complete Spring Break '07 Hours of Operations for Mason Dining Services can be found at: http://dining.gmu.edu/PDF/Hours/SpringBreak07.pdf.

The restaurants that will be open to serve you on the Fairfax Campus during Spring Break are: Damon's, The Johnson Center Food Court, and La Patisserie. The Express will be open for your convenience as well. In Arlington, the Mason Cafe will be open limited hours, as will Jazzman's Cafe on the Prince William campus. Questions or comments can be directed to mgalvin@gmu.edu.

Dialing 911 on Campus

In the event of an emergency on any campus – call 911 for help. The call can be made from any land line, pay phone or cell phone. Deciding what an actual emergency is, is a somewhat subjective process. Certain events such as a fire, an armed intruder, or an unconscious person all justify a call to 911. A skinned knee, a lost wallet, or dead car batteries don’t justify a 911 call. However, if there is any doubt – make the call.

A 911 call to report an emergency from any of Mason's campuses will produce one of the following responses: (1) if the call is placed from a University telephone (993 exchanges) it will go directly to the Mason Police Dispatcher at the Fairfax campus. The Dispatcher is in radio contact with Mason officers at all campuses except Loudoun. Because there is no Mason Police presence at the Loudoun Campus, the call will be immediately referred to the Loudoun Emergency Response Center; (2) if the call is placed from a cell phone it will go to the public safety dispatch center in the jurisdiction from where the call is placed. All calls will be immediately transferred to Mason police with the exception of cell phone calls placed from the Loudon campus. Cell phone calls from Loudoun campus will be handled by local emergency responders and information relayed to the Mason Police.

It is important for you to be prepared to give the following information: the nature of the emergency (crime, injury, fire, etc.); the exact location of the emergency; your name and a call back phone number in case further information is needed.

If you have any safety concerns or concerns about this article, contact the Safety Office, 993-2479.
