Emergency Notification

The Fairfax County Office of Emergency Management has arranged for all faculty, staff, and students at George Mason University to join its Community Emergency Alert Network (CEAN). The network is used to send out emergency information such as severe weather warnings and major traffic problems to a variety of wireless devices and your e-mail address. When an emergency occurs the network will be used to send out real-time updates, instructions on where to go and protective actions that need to be taken. In the near future we are also anticipating that the network will allow us to disseminate university specific emergency information and enhance your ability to make informed decisions regarding safety and security.

To join CEAN go to the Fairfax County web site, www.fairfaxcounty.gov/alert and follow the on-line instructions. Be sure to register as part of the George Mason Group (2nd page). If you have trouble registering or have any questions, contact either Keith Bushey, 993-3088, or Jay Callan, 993-2473, in the Safety Office.
